Very abundant in southwestern Taiwan near Tungkang. The only lanternfish species with commercial value and often sold in the Tungkang fish market. Occupies an important niche in the waters near Tungkang (Ref. 39633). Museum: Tungkang, ASIZP 057136 (3, 7.6-8.8 cm SL) (Ref. 48453).
